August 2013 Conscious Box

This was our first Conscious Box and we were pretty impressed by how many items they were able to fit in this small package.  As usual, the healthy boxes are all unboxed and reviewed by my husband John, owner and head trainer at CrossFit Bayside.  Be sure to check out his unboxing video in my previous post!

Conscious Box is a subscription box that sends healthy, eco-friendly items monthly for $19.95 including shipping.  Check them out at:

While they don’t seem to send many full sized items, we were impressed by the variety and amount of items included in this small, recycled box.  The packaging was great and very conscientious!  We can tell they are an awesome company that cares about the Earth.  Here’s what we got:

-Beanfield’s Family Owned Bean & Rice Chips in Salt n’ Pepper (retail $1.25)

John, while not a bean eater, said these chips were delicious.

-Beautiful postcard

From what I understand, each Conscious Box comes with a bonus postcard.  The photo I took doesn’t do this justice.  It is a gorgeous shot of what looks like the Northern Lights.

-2 Flavrz All Natural Liquid Drink Mix in Fruit Punch Energy & Citrus Hibiscus Immunity (retail $5.99/6 pack)

John received the Fruit Punch flavor in his July Klutch Club Box and loved it.  He just ran out so he was excited to find these in the Conscious Box.  He hasn’t tried the Immunity one yet, but the Energy one gave him non-jittery energy while tasting delicious.  We will definitely be ordering these.

-Teeccino Herbal Coffee in Vanilla Nut (1 tee-bag) (retail $4.99/10 pack)

John is a huge coffee drinker and since he only likes it black, he is always on the lookout for great tasting coffee.  We’ve never seen a “tee-bag” coffee, so he is interested in trying this out.

-Good Nature Organic Linden Tea (1 bag) (retail $4.99/20 pack)

We don’t drink tea, but will put this in the cabinet for company.

-Stash Organic Herbal Tea in Lavender-Tulsi (1 bag) (retail $4.20/18 pack)

Again, we don’t drink tea.  I always think it’s weird when lavender is in food but apparently it’s popular.  I am allergic to lavender but have heard great things about this tea.  Putting it in the cabinet for company.

-BIJA Tea in Lemon Ginger Echinacea (1 bag) (retail $6.99/20 pack)

This box is great for a tea lover!  Into the cabinet you go.

-Similasan Computer Eye Relief Drops (2 pack) (retail $13.79/10ml bottle)

I am on the computer pretty much 24/7 for work, and my eyes are always strained.  I typically use Refresh Natural Tears, but I will give this a whirl.

-Ultima Replenisher Dietary Supplement in Lemonade (1 packet) (retail $23.99/30 packets)

This is a plant-based, naturally sweet electrolyte powder.  John is very anti-Gatorade and other sugar-filled drinks (he swears by coconut water as his electrolyte fix), so he is excited to try this.

-Kelapo Virgin Coconut Oil (1 packet) (retail $13.19/10 packets)

John is 80% Paleo and love his coconut oil.  We have an entire shelf dedicated to it in our pantry!  He was excited to receive this item.

-A Vogel Herbamare Organic Herb Seasoning Salt (.09 oz sample packet) (retail $9.49/8.8 oz bottle)

John loves to cook and has an impressive spice rack, so he can’t wait to try this out.

-Blossom Organics Natural Moisturizing Lubricant (.07 fl oz sample packet) (retail $4.99/1 oz bottle)

Who can’t use a little lube now and then?  Lol, I have a friend who I send all my lube samples to.  You know who you are  ;)  This is coming your way!

-Episencial Soothing Cream for Eczema, Itches and Bothered Skin (3 ml sample packet) (retail $14/4 oz bottle)

This stuff is great for dry, itchy elbows!

-Parma! Vegan Parmesan (sample packet) (retail $5.99/3.5 oz bottle)

At first John said, “Gross!” but then he saw it was made of just walnuts, yeast and salt.  He will try it out, but I’ll stick to real cheese, thank you.

-Last Round Hangover Support (retail $3)

Here at CrossFit Bayside, we believe in the motto “Work hard, play harder”, and boy do we play!  While it’s hard to remember to drink this right before bed when you are drunk, I will play designated driver one night and pass this onto John to see if it works.

-Lotus Moon Hibiscus Flower Hydrating Lotion Facial Moisturizer (sample packet) (retail $32/1.7 oz)

This is a relatively expensive lotion!  Neither John nor I use lotions and it contains flowery ingredients which I am allergic to so this is going in the giveaway pile.

-Bambooee Reusable Bamboo Towel (1 sheet) (retail $15.99/20 sheet roll)

This product seems expensive ($16 for a roll of paper towels?!) but when you look at the benefits, it’s really cost-effective.  One sheet can be used up to 1.5 weeks and washed up to 20 times!  I would love to be more Earth-conscious, but working 18 hours a day, I just can’t be bothered with washing paper towels (sorry, Earth.  I still love and appreciate you and I do recycle!).  This is a pretty cool product, though and I highly recommend it to my more eco-friendly buddies.

-Hydration Factor Natural Citrus Flavor Dietary Supplement (1 stick packet) (retail $12.99/15 stick packet box)

This product has excellent reviews.  John is excited to try it out.

-Totlogic Body Lotion (.24 fl oz sample packet) (retail $18/8 fl oz bottle)

This is a natural, pure, gentle body lotion for babies, infants and toddlers.  We have none of those so we will be passing this on to a friend.  It’s a pretty high-end baby product, but it has excellent reviews.

-Mini Wooden Spoon

I am assuming this is a bonus to stir the tea with.  Is it weird that this was one of our favorite items in the box?  So cute!

This was a pretty cool box.  It was jam-packed with a great variety of samples.  It’s a little difficult to put a price on it as there weren’t many of full sized items, but I think it was well worth the $19.95 to be introduced to all these new brands and items.  And, I had a coupon for $12.95 off so I only paid $7!  Score!!!  if you are interested in purchasing Conscious Box,which is great for men and women, check them out at:
